Disk quotas
9:36 pm in Announcement by FrontPeers
There have been a number of enquiries and comments about our disk space quotas. Compared to other blog and site builder platforms, we offer significantly less disk space per account.
While many other services of a similar nature offer free space in the Gigabyte (GB) range, we currently offer only 10MB (about 100th of 1GB) by default. This is still sufficient to store over a hundred media files, such as recurring topic images in your articles. Note: no text-based data like what you write or your account statistics are counted.
PeerBlog’s mission is to provide a free, centralized platform to Internet users who have at least some experience in media publishing on the web, such as hosting their photos with services like Flickr or having signed up with Amazon S3 for file storage.
PeerBlogs is to be understood as the framework for your online presence:
- You get the tools you need to build your site;
- You bring your own, existing content;
- You continue to use your existing content hosts;
- You can take away all you wrote at PeerBlogs when leaving.
We do not rule out future upgrades (free and/or fee) regarding disk space but for now we focus on building a solid service for a certain group of users rather than trying to attract a large crowd and watering down our services.
